Nothing says summer like a day at ball park, enjoying the game, munching a hotdog, downing an icy beer. But, with Major League Baseball prices as they are, who can afford that? You can with the Battle Creek Bombers at C.O. Brown Stadium.
The Bombers, one of the 16 baseball teams in the summer collegiate Northwood League, began in 2007 as an expansion team. They just barely missed out on the playoffs at the end of the 2009 season. On the final night of that season, first baseman Chris Lewis of Western Michigan University broke eight franchise records. In 2009, the Bombers sent a record seven players to the Northwood League All-Star Game, including top hitter Lewis, of course.
General admission tickets cost $4 for senior citizens, military personnel and children 12 and younger; everyone else pays $5. A reserved box seat costs $6 — less than the cost of a movie ticket! An afternoon with the Bombers is very affordable: For $20, you can get all the hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks and draft beer you can handle at the HBC Fandeck.
You can check out the Bombers’ Schedule online. You can check out the team roster here.
The Bombers add a little extra excitement with their fun promotions. At selected games, if a Bomber hits for the cycle, a lucky fan can win a $12,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, while in certain games, a fan will win $2,500 in free gasoline from PS Food Mart if a Bomber strikes out the side in the sixth inning.
HelloMetro Tip: Looking for a one-of-a-kind birthday party for that baseball fan? Why not celebrate with the Battle Creek Bombers? For $95, you get an on-field birthday recognition and first pitch for the guest of honor, 10 general admission tickets, a reserved table in the Bombers’ picnic area; a hotdog, chips and soft drink for each guest; an autographed baseball for the birthday celebrant a personalized birthday cake.
